Riley powers to the hoop

How old were you when you took up your sport? 5

How did you get involved? Joined a team with friends from school.

What position do you play? Power forward.

Have you competed at a State or national level in 2018-19? I played in the Australian Junior Championships and School Sport Australia National Championships this year, with my team winning both tournaments. I made the SSA All Australian team and was named tournament MVP.

Describe your training routine. I train 10 hours a week, with two sessions early morning midweek plus Sundays, plus two gym sessions.

What is your ultimate goal? To play professionally at the highest level I can.

Describe the toughest challenge you’ve faced?

Coming back from doubledigit deficits in both of the gold medal matches.

Who are your sporting heroes?

All-time NBA greats LeBron James and Karl Malone.

What do you love most?

Playing with my teammates while representing my state and also my club every week.

My mum and dad Julie and Daniel Simmons.
