Nappy drive needs donations

Sharon Falconer of The Nappy Collective with husband Dave and daughter Kaylee.

A YARRA VALLEY mother is rescuing unwanted nappies for mums and babies-incrisis.

Mother of two Sharon Falconer is part of a nappy drive run twice a year by The Nappy Collective.

“These nappies stay in the closet collecting dust or go to landfill when they could be going to someone who really needs them,” Ms Falconer said. She said there are about 600,000 to 900,000 nappy-wearing babies across the country.

The nappies go to organisations such as Melbourne City Mission and McAuley Community Services for Women, which do not receive government support for nappies.

The majority of nappies will be distributed to women who have fled from family violence.

The two-week campaign will end on Friday, May 18.

To donate your nappies, drop them off at Kayson Floors, Shop 4, 1609 Warburton Highway, Woori Yallock.
