United players to wear Vic colours


The Southern United Under 12 indoor teams.

WITH the start of the outdoor season five weeks away, Southern United Hockey Club is in full swing.

The weekend saw the Farm Rd, Cheltenham pitch used to capacity with six practice matches on Saturday, followed by hockey academy, two more practice matches and the season kickoff party on Sunday.

Hockey Victoria announced the selections for the Victorian Under 15 team to compete at the Australian championships at Wollongong in April with 10 Southern United players tapped.

Dominique Blatherwick, Hayley Lambert, Josie Lawton, Will Carruthers, Jaques Carstens and Nick Fitzgerald have been chosen in the first Victorian teams, Lachlan Paice, Laura Loycke, Shauna Mitchell and Evie Stansby are in the second team, and Davin Walker and Emilia Downes are train-ons for the teams.

The indoor hockey competitions run by Hockey Equipe have come to completion with Southern United teams facing each other in the Under 12 and Under 14 grand finals.
