Premier men enjoy the view from the top

With 19 games of hockey, together with training for the Southern Metro Sharks representative team, the Southern United Hockey Club home pitch at Kingston Heath Reserve was at capacity on the weekend.

The juniors, playing Friday night and Saturday morning, and the men’s section took centre stage on Saturday afternoon, with the women on Sunday.

On Friday night the Under 16 mixed shield and pennant teams continued their strong starts, and Under 14 girls pennant continued their push for the top-four with a 2-0 win over top-of-theladder Bayside, with Amika Linstrom and Eve Dartnell scoring the two goals.

The Premier League teams achieved a clean sweep, with the seniors and reserves taking the points over Brunswick and the women over Yarra Valley.

The men’s firsts had a 2-0 win, with goals to Nathan Ephraums and Carlin Walker.

The team now has a threepoint lead over second.

The reserves won 3-0 to go to fourth.

The women showed their strength with their 6-1 win, with two goals to captain, and club life member Tamsin Nelson and two to Olivia Downes. The reserves finished 6-2 over Yarra, with Ash Jones scoring two goals.

In the remainder of the men’s games on Saturdays, the pennant A and C teams, the club’s thirds and fourths, had important wins.
